We live in rural Davie County, North Carolina. That is just west of Winston-Salem in the Piedmont. We are surrounded by such beauty. The mountains are only an hour away, but we have several natural features closer to home as well. This baby colt and his mother live on a large farm a few miles down the road. Davie County has lots of pasturland with horses and cows. A few farmers raise sheep, and there is atleast one ostrich farm.This is my backyard and the arbor my husband made for my birthday years ago. We brought it with us when we moved here.
Here is one of our resident goldfinches. It has been raining this morning, but the birds like it. This spring has had an over-abundance of rain for this area.
We are adding a screen porch and deck to the back of our house, so we can enjoy the birds and shade trees. Once we are finished, I'll post some before and after photos.

Your blue picture is wonderful...looks very similar to my neck of the woods. I thought the colt & mum looked familiar, then I realized you also have another blog.
I always wanted to see the rural America. You have such gorgeous pictures of things and places I find very attractive indeed.
Ah, so peaceful. I'd meant to take pictures of my own little paradise. Granted, much smaller in scale:) Thank you for sharing!
I love that arbor. And I've also been putting out bird feeders and houses too, hoping to attract some activity. So far I got a family of wrens and a chipmunk, but I'm giving it time :)
Watch out for those cute little chipmunks, Chris. We had one get in the house through the bathroom somehow. That was really scary. We have wrens also. They are pretty.
I have been working on a second blog, myself:). I need to separate some of my ramblings, I think...keeping the photography blog more business like so my husband/partner feels connected. But I need an outlet of a different nature. Well done! I also love documenting the people and places in my life. Keep up the good work! I'll be checking back:).
